After protests by farmers’ unions, the Haryana government has issued fresh instructions on the per-acre paddy procurement cap. Farmers whose actual yield exceeds the prescribed limit can now sell the additional produce, subject to verification.
- District-wise yield limits for Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2026-27 range from 21.39 to 29.26 quintals per acre. They were fixed under the Central Government’s guidelines, based on the average yield of the previous three years.
- A farmer claiming a higher yield can submit a written request to the concerned Secretary of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB).
- The revenue or agriculture authorities must complete verification within 48 hours. If the claim is confirmed, the extra paddy will be procured.
- In Ambala district, the limit was fixed at 26.26 quintals per acre.
On Saturday, members of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) blocked the Ambala-Hisar road. BKU (Pehowa) held a demonstration in Pehowa, and BKU (Charuni) had earlier raised the issue in Shahabad. The unions had demanded removal of the cap, saying it stopped farmers from selling their full produce at MSP.
