Union Home Minister Amit Shah will first lead the BJP’s “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” padyatra in Karnal on Thursday, Amar Ujala reported. He will then go to Ambala Cantonment to inaugurate the newly built Shaheed Smarak. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met him in New Delhi on Wednesday to review arrangements for both events.

The memorial is dedicated to the martyrs of the 1857 First War of Independence and stands near NH-44 at Nanheda in Ambala Cantonment. Reports quoting Cabinet Minister Anil Vij put its cost at about Rs 800 crore.

The Shaheed Smarak will open to the public from Friday, 6 November. Amar Ujala, citing sources, says the entry ticket may cost between Rs 100 and Rs 200, but no official price was announced in the reports we checked.

Haryana Roadways Strike Postponed: What It Means for Commuters

Haryana Roadways unions have postponed the statewide strike planned for 5 and 6 November. The decision followed a meeting of about four hours between union leaders and the state’s Transport Commissioner in Chandigarh, according to Amar Ujala and ETV Bharat.

Union leaders said the next meeting, with Transport Minister Anil Vij, is set for 25 November. Demands such as bonuses and earned leave are still pending. They said letters on seven demands had already been issued and that around 15 demands had been agreed upon in an earlier meeting on 8 September.

The strike has been postponed, not withdrawn. Regular bus services are expected on both days, but some depots saw local protests earlier this week, so check with your depot before a long journey.

Gurugram and NCR: 50% Work From Home Begins Today

From 5 to 20 November, government and private offices in Gurugram must keep physical attendance at 50 percent, with the rest working from home. Industrial units and essential services are exempt, and offices must keep attendance records, Aaj Tak reported. The administration has ordered daily inspections, and violations can lead to action under Section 14 of the CAQM Act, 2021.

Dust-generating construction and demolition work is also barred for the same period, including road, highway, flyover, and pipeline projects. Some essential infrastructure works are exempt but must follow the rules.

The curbs come as Delhi-NCR air worsens. CPCB data showed the AQI above 400 in several Delhi areas on Wednesday, with Punjabi Bagh and Jahangirpuri at 447. GRAP Stage II was brought in across the region on 2 November, after Gurugram’s AQI touched 324.

Haryana Weather Today

The weather stays mostly dry. The Agromet Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, expects dry conditions until 10 November, with some cloud in parts of the state today and clear skies after that. Night temperatures may dip slightly while daytime temperatures edge up. Light mist is likely in the early morning, and smog has been reported in some places. No rain is expected.

Delhi-Ambala Rail Line to Get Four Lanes

Northern Railway is planning two more lines on the 197-km Delhi-Ambala route, which now has a double line, at an estimated cost of Rs 5,983 crore, KhabarFast reported. Land has been identified in villages across the Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, and Ambala districts.

Sonipat comes first. The proposal covers five villages in Rai, ten in Sonipat, and six in Gannaur tehsil, about 2.16, 7.44, and 5.93 hectares, respectively. Compensation is to follow NCR norms and the railway’s land acquisition policy. The proposals for Panipat and Karnal have not yet been sent to the administration. A Rs 3,612 crore tender has also been invited for the Subzi Mandi to Ambala Cantt section, with a four-year target.
